A miniature bottle of Glengoyne 10 Year Old bottled by Lang Brothers. We estimate this was bottled in the 1980s.
Lang Brothers Ltd. purchased the distillery from the MacLelland family in 1876 and changed the name from Burnfoot to Glen Guin, which was anglicised to Glengoyne in 1905. The distillery supplied the Lang Brothers' blends, as well as those of Robertson & Baxter (now Edrington). Robertson & Baxter purchased Lang Brothers in 1965. Edrington sold Glengoyne to Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd in 2003.
Glengoyne takes its name from 'Glen Guin', meaning 'Glen of the wild geese'. Rather than using peat like many distilleries, Glengoyne has traditionally dried its malted barley using only warm air.
