Description

A bottle of the 1st release of Balblair 1969. This was distilled on 7 February 1969, matured in ex-bourbon American oak hogsheads, and bottled at cask strength in 2012. This is presented in wooden case with a certificate of authenticity.

This is bottle number 373 of 999.

Balblair distillery was built in 1790 by the Ross family, who would run the distillery for the next 100 years. In 1872, production was shifted to a new site to take advantage of the newly built railway between Wick and Inverness. The distillery closed in 1911, and was commandeered by the military during World War II, after which it resumed production. In the 1990s, Balblair was acquired by Inver House, who decided to release only vintage malts, the first of which were 1979, 1989 and 1997.
