Glengoyne 8 Year Old Pure Malt Bottled 1960s - Lang Brothers 75.7cl / 40%
A bottle of Glengoyne 8 Year Old Pure Malt Scotch Whisky. This was bottled by the proprietors Lang Brothers Ltd., we estimate in the 1960s.
Lang Brothers Ltd. purchased the distillery from the MacLelland family in 1876 and changed the name from Burnfoot to Glen Guin, which was anglicised to Glengoyne in 1905. The distillery supplied the Lang Brothers' blends, as well as those of Robertson & Baxter (now Edrington). Robertson & Baxter purchased Lang Brothers in 1965. Edrington sold Glengoyne to Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd in 2003.
Glengoyne takes its name from 'Glen Guin', meaning 'Glen of the wild geese'. Rather than using peat like many distilleries, Glengoyne has traditionally dried its malted barley using only warm air.
