A bottle of North Port 20 Year Old. This was distilled in 1979 and bottled in October 1999 for Diageo's now discontinued Rare Malts Selection range.
This is bottle number 1491.
North Port, or Brechin, was established in 1820 in the eastern Highlands under the name Townhead. The name was changed to Brechin in 1832, and to North Port in 1839. Throughout its lifetime, the majority of its output went into blends. The first official bottlings were the Rare Malts releases in the mid 1990s, 10 years after the distillery closed.
