A 75cl bottle of Glen Ord 23 Year Old, distilled in 1973 and bottled in September 1997 for the Rare Malts Selection.
This is bottle number 1404.
Glen Ord distillery was build in 1838 and is the last remaining distillery in the Black Isle, a peninsula in the Scottish Highlands which was once a heartland of distillation, with both illicit and licenced distilleries operating in the area. It is one of the only distilleries which is self-sufficient in its malt requirements (the others being Roseisle and Springbank), and produces malt for all of Diageo's northern operations. Glen Ord has been available as a single malt since the 1980s, and has been bottled under many names, including Glenordie, Ordie, Ord, and Muir of Ord.
