Glenlochy was built in Fort William in 1898, a time of recession in the whisky industry. It fell silent during World War I and struggled in the difficult post-war economic conditions. The distillery was modernised in the 1960s but suffered again in the early 1980s, a time that saw many distilleries being closed. Glenlochy was demolished in 1986 and is now converted to offices and flats.
