Convalmore 1969 Bottled 1980s - Connoisseurs Choice 5cl

A miniature bottle of Convalmore Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1969 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Connoisseurs Choice series. We estimate this was bottled in the 1980s.

Please note, there is no size stated on the label, but this appears to be a 5cl bottle.

Convalmore distillery was built in 1894 just outside Dufftown. The distillery was bought by broker and blender W P Lowrie in 1904 and later passed to Buchanan's. Convalmore was damaged by fire in 1909 and reopened in 1910 with an experimental continuous still designed to produce malt whisky, though this was scrapped after five years. In 1925 Convalmore joined the DCL portfolio and in 1964 capacity doubled to four stills. The distillery closed in 1985 and the site was sold to William Grant & Sons.

This lot comes from the extensive collection of a Merseyside collector who began his hobby with bottles bought for guests as digestifs at private dinner parties in the early 1970s. His interest led to him advertising in the UK national newspapers, and buying and selling bottles as far afield as Australia, America and Ireland, with his last significant addition being a collection he purchased from Stoke On Trent in 1984.
