A miniature bottle of Clynelish Single Cask Scotch Whisky. This was distilled on 5 August 1976, matured in a single sherry oak and bottled at cask strength in April 2002 by Blackadder International as part of the Raw Cask series.
As with all of the Raw Cask series, this whisky has not been filtered at all and may contain harmless cask sediment.
This was bottled from cask number 6501.
The Clynelish distillery we know today was built in 1968 alongside the original Clynelish, which was subsequently renamed Brora. The distillery was owned by Distillers Company Limited (later United Distillers then Diageo), and the malt, known for its waxy character, has played an important role in the Johnnie Walker blends. Some 1970s vintages were bottled as part of the Rare Malt Selection in the 1990s, the official Clynelish 14 Year Old was launched in 2002, and the no-age-statement Select Reserve joined the Special Releases roster in 2014.
This lot comes from the extensive collection of a Merseyside collector who began his hobby with bottles bought for guests as digestifs at private dinner parties in the early 1970s. His interest led to him advertising in the UK national newspapers, and buying and selling bottles as far afield as Australia, America and Ireland, with his last significant addition being a collection he purchased from Stoke On Trent in 1984.
