A limited edition bottle of Fettercairn 40 Year Old Rare Vintage Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky, presented in a black lacquer box. This was distilled on 18 March 1969, matured in Apostoles palo cortado sherry casks and bottled at 40% ABV. This bottle is signed by Distillery Manager David Doig.
This is one of 463 bottles.
Fettercairn distillery was founded in 1825 by local landowner Sir Alexander Ramsay and is set in the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains. The distillery was sold just five years later to Sir John Gladstone, father of British Prime Minister William Gladstone. During his time in office, Gladstone passed legislation to reduce tax on whisky.
