Description

A bottle of Chartreuse 1605 Cuvée Réservée à Tarragone. This was bottled in 2005 to celebrate 400 years since François Hannibal d'Estrées's manuscript for an 'Elixir of Life' was presented to the Carthusian monks at Vauvert. This recipe, made with over 130 herbs and spices, became green Chartreuse.

This yellow edition was produced for Tarragona, a city in Spain where Chartreuse was produced for a time.

Chartreuse has been produced by Carthusian monks in France since 1737. In the early 20th century, the monastery and distillery were nationalised by the French government. The monks, unwilling to give up their secret recipe, moved production to Tarragona, Spain. They later returned home and today all Chartreuse is produced in France.
