Highland Park 1975 Bottled 1993 - 500th Anniversary 5cl

A miniature bottle of Highland Park 1975. This was distilled on 31 March 1975 and specially bottled for the Mini Bottle Club by The Master Of Malt, to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of Scotch whisky distilling.

This is one of 120 bottles; it was bottled from cask number 4277.

The history of Highland Park distillery is shrouded in mystery, with even the identity of its founder being disputed. It was built on the remote island of Orkney in 1798, either by farmer David Robertson, or priest turned whisky smuggler Magnus Eunson. The first single malts were released in the 1970s, and the distillery has become known for its use of Orcadian peat to dry the barley (lighter than mainland or Islay peat), and sherry casks for maturation. Recent years have seen Highland Park pay homage to its island heritage, with releases named after local landmarks and Norse gods.

This lot comes from the extensive collection of a Merseyside collector who began his hobby with bottles bought for guests as digestifs at private dinner parties in the early 1970s. His interest led to him advertising in the UK national newspapers, and buying and selling bottles as far afield as Australia, America and Ireland, with his last significant addition being a collection he purchased from Stoke On Trent in 1984.
