Tomatin 10 Year Old The Strathspey Railway 5cl

A bottle of Tomatin 10 Year Old single Highland malt whisky. This was bottled by the Miniature Collectives as part of The Strathspey Railway series. This is Caledonian Railway No. 828.

Tomatin distillery was built in 1897 close to the Highland and Speyside border. Following a period of expansion in the 1950s and 1960s, it became one of the largest distilleries in the Highlands. After a downturn, the distillery went into liquidation before becoming the first Scotch whisky distillery to come under Japanese ownership when it was purchased by Takara Shuzo and Okara companies in 1986. Today, the distillery is known for supplying blends such as The Antiquary as well as its core range of single malts which benefit from Tomatin's use of first-fill sherry and bourbon wood for maturation.

This lot comes from the extensive collection of a Merseyside collector who began his hobby with bottles bought for guests as digestifs at private dinner parties in the early 1970s. His interest led to him advertising in the UK national newspapers, and buying and selling bottles as far afield as Australia, America and Ireland, with his last significant addition being a collection he purchased from Stoke On Trent in 1984.
