Description

A bottle of Glenury Royal 23 Year Old. This was distilled in 1971 and bottled for Diageo's now-discontinued Rare Malts Selection.

The Rare Malts were a series of cask strength whiskies first released in 1995 by DCL (later to become part of Diageo).

This is bottle number 3313.

Glenury Royal was founded in 1825 near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, in the Eastern Highlands by Captain Robert Barclay, a colourful character who once walked 1000 miles in 1000 hours to win a bet. Glenury fell silent in 1983 and was closed 1985.

This Glenury Royal 1971 23 Year Old sold at our online auction for £490

Condition

Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note wear to the labels. The capsule is slightly loose, but it appears to be secure.

Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. Older bottles often contain small amounts of sediment.

This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
