Heublein was an American producer and distributor of food and alcoholic beverages throughout the 20th century. The company began as a restaurant in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1862, and soon moved into selling pre-mixed cocktails. In the 1930s and 1940s, Heublein acquired distribution rights to many famous brands, including Smirnoff, Bell's, Black & White and Guinness. The company was sold to Grand Metropolitan in 1987 and was incorporated into International Distillers & Vintners in 1996.
