This is an incredibly rare opportunity to bid on a pair of excellent single cask whiskies from a legendary Japanese distillery – Karuizawa.
Both whiskies were distilled in the early 1980s and were carefully selected by French spirit specialists La Maison du Whisky. They were launched at Whisky Live Paris 2014 as part of the "Artifices Series", featuring labels designed by a number of different artists – both Karuizawa labels were designed by Warren Khong from Singapore.
1 x Karuizawa 1980 single cask bottled at 63% ABV in July 2014 and was aged in an ex-bourbon barrel. Cask #6476
1 x Karuizawa 1981 single cask bottled at 53.3% ABV in July 2014 and aged in an ex-sherry barrel. Cask #136. It scored 93 points on Whiskyfun.com
Karuizawa was founded in 1955 and was Japan’s smallest whisky distillery. In 1959, they became the first distillery to export whisky overseas. Sadly, Karuizawa distillery stopped production in 2000 and closed for good in 2011.
