A one quart bottle of Mount Vernon Pure Rye Whiskey, bottled in bond by The American Medicinal Spirits Co. The tax strip states that this was made in Spring 1921 (one year after Prohibition started), and bottled in Fall 1933 (the year Prohibition ended).
During Prohibition, certain companies were allowed to produce alcohol for medicinal use, this is an example of such a bottle. The back label reads: Tax paid at non-beverage rate. For Medicinal Purposes Only. Sale or use for other purposes will cause heavy penalties to be inflicted.
