Description

A bottle of Hiram Walker Signet 100 Proof Rye Whiskey, bottled in the Autumn 1942.

This was distilled in the Autumn of 1936 at the Hiram Walker distillery in Peoria, which opened on the site of an older distillery following the repeal of Prohibition in 1933. During World War II, when this whiskey was bottled, one of the distillery's bottling lines was converted to the packaging of combat food rations. It was sold to Archer Daniels Midland in 1981.
