Chartreuse Green Liqueur 'La Fabiola' Bottled 1966-1973 - Tarragona 37.5cl

A half bottle of Chartreuse green liqueur, produced in Tarragona, Spain. We estimate this was bottled between 1966 and 1973.

This bottle, known as the "Fabiola", was named in honour of Princess Fabiola of Aragon, who married King Baudoin of Belgium on 15 December 1960, and contains a liquor that, according to legend, was distilled in 1960 and bottled a few years later.

Chartreuse has been produced by Carthusian monks in France since 1737. In the early 20th century, the monastery and distillery were nationalised by the French government. The monks, unwilling to give up their secret recipe, moved production to Tarragona, Spain. They later returned home and today all Chartreuse is produced in France.
