A bottle of 1961 Grand Vin de Château Latour from Bordeaux's Pauillac appellation.
'One of the 20th century's most profound wines. I can't say it is better than the 1982, it just has even more complexity, since it is 21 years older. But, wow, the youthfulness this wine holds onto with its incredible nose of crème de cassis, cedar wood, baking spices and a touch of lead pencil shavings, this full-bodied, opulent wine is magnificent. 100 Points'.
Robert Parker, Hedonists Gazette, 2016
Please note there is no size or ABV stated, however this appears to be a 75cl bottle.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Please note, the cork is low in the neck by approximately 2-3mm, but appears to be secure.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
