A bottle of 1981 Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf du Pape. Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe derive its name from an old telegraph station, which was once sited on the hill where the domaine now stands.
The vineyards, unusually for Châteauneuf du Pape, lie in a single block, on the La Crau plateau, today covering an area of 70 hectares. The vines average 50 years of age, with a significant proportion closer to 65 years old.
Please note there is no ABV stated on the bottle.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
