Description

This lot contains two bottles of 2005 Beaune Premier Cru Clos de L'Ecu from Faiveley, a two hectare south-facing walled 'monopole' vineyard dating back to the Middle Ages, purchased in 2003 by François Faiveley, the sixth generation of the family business.

'A gentle touch of wood frames a pretty mélange of red, blue and violet aromas that sit atop slightly toasty middle weight flavors and a sweet, intense and concentrated finish. This completely coats the mouth with its generous and fleshy flavors that are easy to like if not particularly elegant plus there is plenty of aging potential. A big Beaune. 88-91/100' Allen Meadows, Burghound, 2007

Condition

Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear.

The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults. Older bottles often contain sediment. Wines are more fragile than spirits and older wines may be listed, at our discretion, for their historical interest rather than their drinkability. We can in no way guarantee that they are still within their plateau of maturity or to the buyer’s taste.

This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
