A bottle of Karuizawa 1972 40 Year Old Japanese Single Malt Whisky, this was matured in Sherry Butt number 8833 and bottled in 2012 at a strength of 55.9% ABV.
Karuizawa was founded in 1955 and was Japan’s smallest whisky distillery. In 1959, it became the first distillery to export whisky overseas. Sadly, Karuizawa distillery stopped production in 2000 and closed for good in 2011.
