This lot was donated by Fred Laing and Douglas Laing & Co. to raise money for The Maclean Foundation.
A bottle of Port Ellen 35 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This was distilled in 1977, matured in a refill hogshead and bottled at natural cask strength in September 2012. This is bottle number 113 of 155.
'This highly sought after, and extremely rare, expression of Port Ellen was selected from the late Douglas Laing’s collection and donated by his son, Fred, to whom we are eternally grateful. He writes “Anticipate a combination of smoked barley, mocha, peat and leather on the nose, and a taste of soft tar, bonfire ash, coffee and chocolate.' Charlie Maclean.
