A bottle of green Chartreuse Green liqueur from France. We estimate this was bottled between 1941 and 1951.
Please note, this bottle shows signs of leaking in the past. As such we offer this lot for collection only.
Chartreuse has been produced by Carthusian monks in France since 1737. In the early 20th century, the monastery and distillery were nationalised by the French government. The monks, unwilling to give up their secret recipe, moved production to Tarragona, Spain. They later returned home and today all Chartreuse is produced in France.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the labels. The wax seal is mostly missing.
Please note, this bottle shows signs of leaking in the past. The top of the cork is partially exposed and appears to have a tiny hole through which liquid can slowly seep. The cork is branded with the Chartreuse logo.
This lot is offered for collection only.
The Whisky.Auction team has inspected this lot and found it to be suitable for sale. However, please note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. Older bottles often contain small amounts of sediment. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
