Lion Angelo Sparvoli - Kwant 30cl
To mark Earth Day on 22 April 2021, Place of the Way challenged 16 of the world’s best bartenders to create a selection of wildlife-inspired cocktails. Each cocktail represents one of the world’s most endangered animals and all proceeds will go to the World Wildlife Fund, a leading conservation organisation with a mission to create a world where people and wildlife can thrive together.
A 30cl bottle of Mufasa, a cocktail made with Diplomatico Planas Rum, maraschino, coconut water, mango, passion fruit and malic and citric acid.
Angelo Sparvoli of Kwant Bar had this to say of his creation:
'This cocktail is inspired to the majestic animal better known as the king of the savannah, the African Lion, an extremely endangered species with only about 23000 specimens left in the wild. I am using Diplomatico Planas rum, which has amazing notes of coconut and banana, rounded by a creamy chocolate finish; its 47% ABV reflects the strength and the character of the lion.
To give depth and body I have added a touch of maraschino, a dry cherry liqueur. Finally, to complement the tropical flavour profile I made a mango, passion fruit and coconut water syrup, balanced with an acid solution.
The name 'Mufasa' is not just related to 'The Lion King', but actually means 'King' in Manazoto. With this cocktail I hope to contribute to the safeguarding of this incredible animal and to raise awareness about its endangered future.
Please enjoy responsibly!'
