If you’re looking to bid on whiskies and fine spirits (both everyday and hard to find), as well as a host of collectable miniature bottles and memorabilia, such as decanters, jugs and books, then you’ve come to the right place.
THE BUYING PROCESS – IN 5 EASY STEPS
1. CHOOSE AN ITEM
Our user-friendly navigation allows you to sort lots by country of origin, or by category: single malt whiskies, for example, or blends.
We’ve also added a ‘search all’ option, which lets you sort items alphabetically and by price, too – ideal if you’re looking for a bargain.
2. LOG IN / CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT
Setting up an online buyer’s account on whisky.auction is straightforward and involves a one-off registration fee of £5, which enables you to bid on as many items as you like.
You can also create a Watch List, which gives you an at-a-glance view of the current bid status of the lots you’d like to keep track of, and those on which you’re the current highest bidder.
You can register here or we can guide you through the registration process, if you'd prefer.
3. BID ON ITEMS
When you’ve found an item you like the look of, you can bid on it in two ways:
Press the ‘Bid’ button – the current bid will increase by the standard increment
Enter the maximum bid you’re happy to pay
Whichever method you choose, you will see instantly whether you are the highest bidder, whether the reserve price has been met, or whether you need to bid again.
The bid increments vary based on the current winning bid. Please note that starting bids for miniatures is £2.00, for memorabilia and bottles is £5.
4. END OF AUCTION
Different categories of auction items conclude at different times:
7.30pm – Miniatures, Gin, Armagnac
7.40pm – American, Lowland, Irish
7.50pm – Japanese, Vodka, Memorabilia
8.00pm – Blends, Fortified Wine
8.10pm – Rum, Champagne, Other Spirits
8.20pm – Highland, Other Whisky, Campbeltown
8.30pm – Speyside, Tequila, Grain
8.40pm – Cognac, Island, Liqueurs
8.50pm – Islay, Jugs, Books
Whisky.auction lots end when no more valid bids have been placed in the three-minute period before the scheduled or extended finish time. If a valid bid is made in that period, then the auction time for that lot is extended to three minutes from when the bid is made.
scheduled finish time: 8pm (current winning bid at 7.55pm is £105)
new winning bid of £110 made at 7.59pm, so auction lot extended to 8.02pm
new winning bid of £115 made at 8.01pm, so auction lot extended to 8.04pm
new winning bid of £120 made at 8.02pm, so auction lot extended to 8.05pm
no more bids by 8.05pm, so the £120 bid made at 8.02pm wins
