This lot contains a letter from John Begg Distiller & Scotch Whisky Merchant, proprietor of Royal Lochnagar distillery, to Messrs Pulling & Co., dated 27 May 1903.
The letterhead bears the company's royal warrants to Queen Victoria (1848-1900) and His Majesty The King (1901-).
The letter reads:
Dear Sirs, I have an order this morning for a 5 gallon keg of my 'P.V.' Whisky from Mrs. Hall, of the Court Farm, Creden Hill. As I have at present no regular Wine Merchant customer in Hereford, I am executing Mrs. Hall's order, but in the hope that you will allow me to execute Mrs. Hall's future orders through you, I am enclosing a credit note in your favour for 7/6 [seven shillings, six pence], being the difference between the price I am charging Mrs. Hall - 19/- per gallon, and the price I would charge you - 17/6 per gallon, for this quality of whisky. I beg also to annex [a] copy of my Price List, and should be glad to open communications with you with the view of your stocking my Whiskies. I may say that your names have been supplied to me by Messrs. Blandy Bros & Co., who are my export Agents. Trusting to be favored with your reply, I am, Dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, John Begg.
Please note, the price list and credit note mentioned in the letter are not included.
