This lot contains three documents from Loch Katrine Adelphi Distillery to its client William Pulling & Co. The Loch Katrine Adelphi Distillery was founded in 1826 by Charles and David Gray and in 1880 came under the ownership of Archibald Walker & Co., who also owned distilleries in Liverpool and Limerick.
Two documents acknowledging receipt of payment, dated 14 January 1899 and 23 November 1899.
One document dated June 1872 which bears a courtesy note sent to William Pulling & Co. following samples being sent by the distillers. The full text reads:
Dear Sirs, We beg to mention having taken leave to send you (carriage paid) samples of our own fine 'Pot' or Old Still Whisky, and 'Famous Limerick Whisky' to which we ask your obliging notice. Mr James S Langwill from the distillery will have pleasure to call at your office in a few days, when we shall be glad to learn that you then instruct to forward sample lot of either or both the above prime makes. Faithfully yours, per Charles & David Gray, Glasgow, and A Walker, Limerick.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. Older bottles often contain small amounts of sediment. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
