Chateau Latour 1988 Premier Grand Cru Classe - Pauillac 75cl / 12.5%
A bottle of 1988 Grand Vin de Château Latour from Bordeaux's Pauillac appellation.
Château Latour is rated as a First Growth under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification and is generally considered to be the most powerful of them all in terms of longevity and depth of flavour. The core of the fruit comes from the 45 hectare L'Enclos vineyard, which is located next to the Château and winery. Plantings are 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
'So minty, with loads of subtle ripe fruit and eucalyptus undertones. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a long, long finish. Caresses every inch of the palate. It's the quality of the tannins that's impressive here. What a great and beautiful wine. Should improve for many years to come. 96/100' James Suckling, Wine Spectator. Tasted 2009.
This lot comes from the temperature-controlled cellar of media businessman and wine enthusiast Lord Evgeny Lebedev, where it has been kept since purchase direct from UK importers.
