A bottle of 1995 Meursault-Charmes Premier Cru from Domaines des Comtes Lafon. This was made by Dominique Lafon, 'sometimes, and plausibly, described as the world’s best producer of white wine' according to Decanter's Stephen Brook.
The Meursault-Charmes vineyard is east-facing and grown on a moderate slope of deep clay-limestone soil with a rocky subsoil. Half a hectare was planted in the 1920s, with another half hectare planted in the mid-1990s, and the remaining 0.07 planted in the 1960s. Yields at the Domaine average around 35 hectolitres per hectare.
This lot comes from the temperature-controlled cellar of media businessman and wine enthusiast Lord Evgeny Lebedev, where it has been kept since purchase direct from UK importers.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the label. This contains some sediment.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. Older bottles often contain small amounts of sediment. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
