Barolo is a red Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) wine produced in the northern Italian region of Piedmont. Made from the Nebbiolo grape variety, it is regarded as one of Italy's greatest wines, and is characterised by its rich tannic structure, rust-red colouration and 'tar and roses' aromas. Barolo is required by law to be aged for at least 38 months after the harvest prior to release, of which at least 18 months must be in wood.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage and wear to the labels.
Please note: the colour from this wine has entirely dissolved into it as heavy sediment, and the remaining wine is colourless. This lot is listed for historic interest, rather than consumption.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. Older bottles often contain small amounts of sediment. We cannot guarantee that the contents of this bottle will be free from the effects of age, cork taint, oxidation or other faults.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
