This lot was donated by Identity Drinks Brands Ltd. for the COVID-19 Charity Auction in aid of The Drinks Trust to support drinks industry employees.
A bottle of Pierre Ferrand Renegade Barrel No.2 Eau de Vie de Vin. This is made with Pierre Ferrand Cognac first aged in 350 litre oak barrel, then further matured in a 225 litre chestnut wood barrel.
While the practice of using chestnut and other woods for maturing eaux-de-vie used to be common, it fell out of favour after World War II and the method was not included when drawing up Cognac's AOC regulations. Therefore, this cannot legally be described as a Cognac, rather, it is an Eau-de-Vie.
This is bottle number 2942 of 7000; it was bottled from cask number 1/18.
Also included is a book, Elie Ferrand the VIII by Jacques Blanc in collaboration with Kevin Desmon and Alexandre Gabriel, a limited edition of 2000 copies printed in 2018. This relates the history of Maison Pierre Ferrand.
Please note, this lot will be included in our Cognac category which ends at 7:30pm on 14 April 2020.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note damage to the box.
