Glenfarclas 1980 Bottled 2002 - Graanstokerij 70cl / 53%

A bottle of Glenfarclas 1980 Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky. This was distilled on 23 December 1980, matured in a dark oloroso sherry cask and bottled at 53% ABV on 15 April 2002. This was imported to Belgium by Filliers Graanstokerij.

Glenfarclas is one of the oldest distilleries in Speyside and since it was purchased by John Grant in 1865 for £512, it has remained under the Grant family's ownership.

Known for its use of European oak sherry casks and direct-fired stills, the distillery was the first to release a high strength single malt (Glenfarclas 105° was released in 1968) and among the first to open a visitor centre in 1973.

Though Glenfarclas distillery does supply blenders, it has always held back a sizeable portion of its output for single malt bottlings, the result is that Glenfarclas retains significant volumes of long aged stocks.
