A bottle of Willsher's Black Bull The Magnificent Scotch Whisky, blended and bottled at 50% ABV by George Willsher and Company. We estimate this was bottled in the 1970s.
George Willsher & Co. was a whisky merchant founded in Dundee in 1864. The company owned Glencoull Highland Malt Distillery which closed in 1929. Aside from distilling and blending whisky, George Willsher's passion was breeding Aberdeen Angus, known locally as 'Black Cattle'. The Black Bull on the label of the company's flagship blend was said to be a portrait of one of Willsher's prize bulls. George Willsher died in 1912 and the company passed to his son, also named George. Since 2001, the Black Bull brand has been produced by Duncan Taylor.
