A limited edition bottle of Glenfarclas 1988 Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky, The Spirit of Independence. This was distilled in 1988, matured in first fill oloroso sherry casks and bottled on 8 November 2000. This was bottled for the German market.

This is bottle number 0747 of 3000.

Glenfarclas is one of the oldest distilleries in Speyside and since it was purchased by John Grant in 1865 for £512, it has remained under the Grant family's ownership.

Known for its use of European oak sherry casks and direct-fired stills, the distillery was the first to release a high strength single malt (Glenfarclas 105° was released in 1968) and among the first to open a visitor centre in 1973.

Though Glenfarclas distillery does supply blenders, it has always held back a sizeable portion of its output for single malt bottlings, the result is that Glenfarclas retains significant volumes of long aged stocks.
