A bottle of Glenfarclas-Glenlivet 5 Year Old Rare Highland All Malt Unblended Scotch Whisky. This was distilled by J & G Grant Ltd. at Glenfarclas Glenlivet Distillery and bottled and shipped by Grant Bonding Co., Ltd. This was bottled for the Italian market and imported by Donini.
Glenfarclas is one of the oldest distilleries in Speyside and since it was purchased by John Grant in 1865 for £512, it has remained under the Grant family's ownership.
Known for its use of European oak sherry casks and direct-fired stills, the distillery was the first to release a high strength single malt (Glenfarclas 105° was released in 1968) and among the first to open a visitor centre in 1973.
Though Glenfarclas distillery does supply blenders, it has always held back a sizeable portion of its output for single malt bottlings, the result is that Glenfarclas retains significant volumes of long aged stocks.
