Description

A miniature bottle of Mackinlay's VOB blended Scotch whisky, produced by Charles Mackinlay and Co. Limited. We estimate this was bottled in the 1950s to 1960s.

Please note, there is no size or ABV stated on the labels.

This bottle is from a large collection of miniatures purchased by the seller at an auction in 1979. The collection is mainly comprised of blended Scotch whiskies and single malts bottled in the first half of the 20th century.

Charles Mackinlay and Co. was established as a wine merchant in Leith in 1815 and was run as a family firm for five generations. Charles Mackinlay began as an agent for MacFarlane's (proprietor of Port Dundas distillery) and launched his own proprietary whisky brands beginning with Mackinlay's Vatted Old Ben Vorlich and The Original Mackinlay, followed by Mackinlay's Legacy and VOB (Very Old Blended) in the early 20th century. The firm's family ownership ended in 1961 when it was purchased by Scottish Newcastle Breweries Ltd.
