A miniature bottle of Old Smuggler Very Old Blended Whisky, The Gaelic Whisky. This was blended and bottled by The Stirling Bonding Company Ltd., we estimate in the 1930s.
Please note, there is no size or ABV stated on the labels.
This bottle is from a large collection of miniatures purchased by the seller at an auction in 1979. The collection is mainly comprised of blended Scotch whiskies and single malts bottled in the first half of the 20th century.
The history of Old Smuggler dates back to 1835 but Stirling Bonding Company eventually registered the trade name Old Smuggler in 1887. In 1894, the Craigellachie-Glenlivet Distillery Co. acquired the Stirling Bonding Co. before Peter Mackie took control of Craigellachie-Glenlivet between 1890 and 1900. By 1930, Hiram Walker & Sons purchased a 60% share in the Stirling Bonding Company. In 2006 Old Smuggler was a acquired by Gruppo Campari, who still produce it today.
