A miniature bottle of Doctors' Special Liqueur Cream Old Scotch Whisky, The Aristocrat of Blended Pure Scotch Whiskies. This was bottled by Robert McNish & Co. Limited, we estimate in the 1920s to 1930s.
Please note, there is no size or ABV stated on the label.
This bottle is from a large collection of miniatures purchased by the seller at an auction in 1979. The collection is mainly comprised of blended Scotch whiskies and single malts bottled in the first half of the 20th century.
Robert McNish was a merchant of tea, tobacco and Scotch whisky who established his Glasgow shop in 1863. He understood that blended tea was more valuable than unblended, and sought to produce an appealing blended whisky as an alternative to the rougher malts available at the time. Grand Macnish became one of the worlds most enduring blended whisky brands and is still available today, produced by MacDuff international. The Doctors' Special blend was produced since at least the early 20th century and the labels carried a Doctor's Certificate asserting the high quality of the whisky.
