Description

A bottle of Aberlour-Glenlivet 12 Year Old Pure Malt, from the time when many distilleries still used the 'Glenlivet' suffix. We estimate this was bottled in the 1980s.

Aberlour distillery was founded in 1879 by James Fleming at the confluence of the rivers Spey and Lour, with St Drostan's Well as its water source. When journalist and distilling historian Alfred Barnard visited the distillery in the 1880s, he described it as 'the perfect modern distillery'. Today, Aberlour is owned by Chivas Brothers, but every bottle still carries James Fleming's original motto, 'Let The Deed Show'.
