Description

A bottle of Glenfarclas The Family Casks, Release VII. This was distilled in 1964, matured in a single sherry butt and bottled on 25 May 2011.

This is one of 377 bottles; it was bottled from cask number 4719.

Glenfarclas is one of the oldest distilleries in Speyside, and since it was purchased by John Grant in 1865 for £512, it has remained under the Grant family's ownership. Known for its masterful use of European oak sherry casks and direct-fired stills, the distillery was the first to release a cask strength single malt (Glenfarclas 105° was released in 1968), and among the first to open a visitor centre in 1973. Though the distillery does supply blenders, it has always held a sizeable portion of its output for single malt bottlings, resulting in Glenfarclas retaining more significant volumes of aged stocks than most distilleries.

This Glenfarclas 1964 The Family Casks sold at our online auction for £1,650
