A bottle Aberlour-Glenlivet Special Reserve presented in an Edinburgh crystal decanter with stopper. This was distilled in 1958, matured in a single cask for over 21 years and bottled to celebrate the centenary of the Aberlour-Glenlivet Distillery Company Limited in 1979.
This was bottled from cask number 1599.
Aberlour distillery was founded in 1879 by James Fleming at the confluence of the rivers Spey and Lour, with St Drostan's Well as its water source. When journalist and distilling historian Alfred Barnard visited the distillery in the 1880s, he described it as 'the perfect modern distillery'. Today, Aberlour is owned by Chivas Brothers.
