A 94.6cl bottle of Old Log Cabin Bourbon Whiskey, produced and bottled by Distillers Corporation Limited, Montreal, Canada. This comes in the original paper wrapping. We estimate this was bottled in the late 1920s to 1930s.
Distillers Corporation Limited was founded in 1924 by Samuel Bronfman. The previous year, Bronfman had purchased an American distillery, Greenbrier, dismantled it and rebuilt it in LaSalle, Canada. By the late 1920s, the company had distribution rights for Scotch whisky brands including Haig, Black & White, Dewar’s and Vat 69. The company bought struggling competitor Seagram in 1928. During American Prohibition, Distillers Corporation exported to the US, which was legal until 1930. Thereafter, the company began legally exporting alcohol to Saint-Pierre and Miquelon where it fell into the hands of smugglers and bootleggers and made its way to the US. The Bronfman family continued to run Seagram until 2000, when it was sold to Pernod Ricard and Diageo.
