The Christmas 2006 edition of the Bell's commemorative decanter series. This contains Bell's Extra Special 8 Year Old whisky.
This bottle remembers Coldstream Guardsman John Hatfield, who was tried by court martial for falling asleep on duty at Windsor Castle. To prove he was awake, he claimed to have heard Westminster's Great Tom bell chime 13 times at midnight. This unlikely defence was investigated and was found to be true, so the soldier was acquitted. When he died in 1770, this story was inscribed on his tombstone.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note general wear. This appears to have a good fill level.
This decanter weighs approximately 1.43kg.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing. Older bottles often contain small amounts of sediment.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
