A bottle of Comte Louis de Lauriston 1978 Calvados Domfrontais.

This is bottle number 16028.

Calvados Domfrontais is produced from pears as well as cider apples. This is a centuries old tradition in the Domfront region and sets it apart from its neighbours. Over the years, Domfrontais producers have strived to have this regional characteristic recognised and regulated by the French authorities.

Count Louis de Lauriston played an important role in this process and succeeded in 1997, when Calvados Domfrontais was awarded AOC status. Count Louis de Lauriston died only months before and did not live to see his efforts crowned with success.
