Glenfarclas 25 Year Old Bottled 1970s-1980s - Pinerolo 75cl / 43%
14 May 2019
A bottle of Glenfarclas 25 Year Old. This was imported for the Italian market by Pinerolo, we estimate in the late 1970s to early 1980s.
Glenfarclas is one of the oldest distilleries in Speyside, and since it was purchased by John Grant in 1865 for £512, it has remained under the Grant family's ownership. Known for its masterful use of European oak sherry casks and direct-fired stills, the distillery was the first to release a cask strength single malt (Glenfarclas 105° was released in 1968), and among the first to open a visitor centre in 1973. Though the distillery does supply blenders, it has always held a sizeable portion of its output for single malt bottlings, resulting in Glenfarclas retaining more significant volumes of aged stocks than most distilleries.
