A bottle of Old Smuggler Very Old blended Scotch whisky, The Gaelic Whisky. This was blended and bottled by Jas & Geo Stodart Ltd., and imported to the US market by WA Taylor Company, we estimate in the 1940s.
The history of Old Smuggler dates back to 1835 but Stirling Bonding Company eventually registered the trade name Old Smuggler in 1887.
In 1894 the Craigellachie-Glenlivet Distillery Co. acquired the Stirling Bonding Co. Then between 1890 and 1900 Peter Mackie took control of Craigellachie-Glenlivet and by 1930, Hiram Walker & Sons purchased a 60% share in the Stirling Bonding Company.
In 2006 Old Smuggler was a acquired by Gruppo Campari, who still produce it today.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note wear to the labels. This contains a small amount of sediment. This has been painted with varnish by a previous owner to prevent evaporation.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
