A bottle of Glenfarclas Special Vintage 2004, matured in four refill sherry butts and bottled in April 2013. This was selected by Mähler-Besse for the French market.
This is one of 2520 bottles; it was bottled from cask numbers 1112 and 1113.
Glenfarclas is one of the oldest distilleries in Speyside, and since it was purchased by John Grant in 1865 for £512, it has remained under the Grant family's ownership. Known for its masterful use of European oak sherry casks and direct-fired stills, the distillery was the first to release a cask strength single malt (Glenfarclas 105° was released in 1968), and among the first to open a visitor centre in 1973. Though the distillery does supply blenders, it has always held a sizeable portion of its output for single malt bottlings, resulting in Glenfarclas retaining more significant volumes of aged stocks than most distilleries.
