A bottle of King George IV Old Scotch whisky, blended and bottled by The Distillers Agency Limited, South Queensferry, Scotland, and sealed with a spring cap closure. We estimate this was bottled in the early 1950s.
The back label reads: DCL Scotch Whisky
' King George IV' Old Scotch Whisky has been on sale in New Zealand since 1903 and until the Second World War was sold concurrently with our 'DCL' Scotch Whisky, which was introduced to New Zealand about 1880.
It was dedicated to discontinue 'DCL' Whisky during the Second World War and to concentrate on the 'King George IV' brand.
We take this opportunity of assuring our customers that 'King George IV' Old Scotch Whisky is in every way a most worthy successor to 'DCL' Scotch Whisky, which enjoyed a leading position in New Zealand for more than sixty years.
Please note there is no size or ABV stated on the labels.
This bottle is from a large collection built up during the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s.
The New Zealand based collection is mainly comprised of blended Scotch whiskies and early Single Malt Scotch whiskies produced for export markets.
The bottles were inherited and conserved by the seller, the collector’s son.
Please see images for fill level and label condition. Note wear to the labels and capsule.
Note the absence of a condition statement does not imply that this lot is in perfect condition or free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of ageing.
This bottle does not appear to be leaking. While we take every care to pack bottles securely we cannot guarantee that old corks and closures will not leak in transit.
