A rare 1978 Port Ellen bottled for the Rare Malts series.

The Rare Malts were a series of cask-strength releases designed by DCL (later to become part of Diageo) to showcase some of the hidden treasures in their portfolio.

Port Ellen distillery closed in 1983, as part of the mass-closures across the industry at the time.
